Unite the Opposition
Not One Seat sees vote splitting as a major factor in Doug Ford's electoral success. Many Ontarians see this as well, and this leads to low turnout and a sense of hopelessness--why vote if vote splitting means nothing will change?

Since the election in 2022, Ford has consistently had about 40% in the polls, whereas the Liberal and NDP parties typically sit at roughly 25% each. The Green Party is typically around 7%.

Both Bonnie Crombie of the Liberals and Marit Stiles of the NDP are new leaders, and many voters are not familiar with them. Mike Schreiner of the Green Party has been around for longer, but the Greens are unlikely to defeat Ford.

Not One Seat believes a temporary coalition or other formal agreement between the Opposition parties would be the best route to defeat Ford--but convincing ALL the parties to unite is a long shot.

We are putting our resources towards strategic voting. Join us. Still, a groundswell of public demand for the parties to work together may change their minds.

How to Take Action
Not One Seat is Toronto-focused, but working for the good on Ontario. This is an Ontario-wide action.

1) Write an email to the candidate (if known) or the riding association for the Liberal, NDP and Green parties in your riding. (Riding associations make decisions for local campaigns.)

Don't know your riding? Find it here
-
Ontario Liberal Candidates and Riding Associations (Click More to be taken to a page with contact information)
-
There is no centralized list of Ontario NDP candidates yet, here you can find websites for all Ontario NDP Riding Associations Contact information can be difficult to find, however, you can look up the Federal NDP Riding association, and contact them; the Ontario and Federal NDP are connected.

(Coming soon! A sample letter that you can copy and use, but feel free to modify, or write your own.)

2) Call your local candidate or riding associations

Phone calls always get more attention than emails. (Coming soon! a sample phone script.) But some important points to cover are:
-
You are concerned that vote splitting will deliver another Doug Ford majority government
-
You request that they advocate with their party's leadership to temporarily unify with the other Opposition parties
-
You see enough common ground between the Liberals, NDP and Green parties vs the Ford government that you believe they should work together. (Authenticity helps: mention the issues that are most important to you, such as the environment, healthcare, housing, etc)
-
You recognize that this is an extraordinary request, but you believe another Doug Ford government will have lasting and irreparable repercussions for Ontario
-
In the absence of an agreement between the Opposition parties, you ask that the candidate focus any attacks on Doug Ford's record, and not the other parties

3) Write or call the Party leaders directly

Your voice as a resident of the riding will carry the most weight with the local riding association, but let the Party leaders hear from you too.

4) Sign the letter on the Action Network This one isn't ours, but this open letter has the same aims to unite the more progressive parties in Ontario.
