Not From Toronto?
We get asked all the time to extend this throughout Ontario, but unfortunately, we don't have the resources to research and make endorsements, canvas, flyer or make locally-focused content for all of Ontario. But, here's some resources to help you help your own community
1. Organize
Cooperate For Canada is working on the same goals outside Toronto. If you sign their pledge and include your postal code, they will connect you to their teams in your area that are organizing for the Ontario election.

If there currently isn't a team in your area, why not take start one? You know better than us how to reach out to people where you live. Feel free to use any of our material from our Social Media, or the Digital Shareables and Printables under Resources to help you.

We know that it some communities, you can sometimes feel like a lone progressive voice among Doug Ford fans. But with Ford's high disapproval ratings, we are pretty sure you aren't alone.
And we also know, it feels way better to be doing something than feel like you're helpless watching Ontario fall apart around you.
2. Research
Making endorsements on Unity candidates is big part of what we do, and we take it very seriously. Here's what we look at:

POLLS: We know, polling does not tell the whole story. But polling helps identify trends. Pay extra attention to local riding polls and try to look at multiple polls over time. One poll doesn't mean much by itself, but if there is a trend over time showing up for all the pollsters, that's a good indicator that something is shifting.

HISTORY: You know your community best, but you can also look up the details on Elections Ontario or even Wikipedia. If a particular party has never been competitive in your riding, that's not likely to change now. Keep in mind, though, that 2022 was unusual for low turnout and 2018 unusual for a much lower than normal Liberal vote, so take trends from the past two elections with a grain of salt

INCUMBENCY: The person currently in office usually has a major advantage in elections. Similarly, a person was in a different office (e.g., school board trustee) has some added advantage too

GROUND GAME: It makes a difference. We interview candidates to understand what their volunteer strength looks like, how much they've been knocking on doors or calling, and use our local connections to find out if they showing up to local events and debates, etc.

COMMUNITY CONNECTION: Candidates who are well-known and active in their community tend to do better (d'uh).
When in doubt, trust your gut
Some ridings are a two-way race, and it's easy to determine the candidate most likely to defeat the PC Candidate. But some ridings are very close 3-way races and harder to call. All you can do is your best decision, and perhaps try to change some minds by pointing out the way Ford has been failing your community.
3. Amplify
Spread the word. You know better than we do how to reach out within your community.
Start talking to people. Use anything from our social media, our digital resources and our printable resources to help. Plus, check out OntarioForward.ca for more.

If your time and finances allow, and you have a good idea who your Unity Candidate is, volunteer with them or donate to their campaign.
If you feel that your local candidates have little chance of overcoming the PC Candidate in the area, see if there is a riding nearby where you can help out--often you can phone bank or text, which makes things much easier. Kevin Rupasinghe, a past Toronto Council Candidate, has made this spreadsheet available to help identify ridings where uniting the vote may be more successful.

We know that in some communities that strongly favour Ford, it might feel awkward to talk about him being terrible. Remind them that if Ford headed a minority government, others would be there to help keep him accountable.

We also recommend focusing on the ways in which Ford's policies are failing your community, such as family doctor shortages, ER and hospital closures, affordable housing shortages, the increasing homelessness problem, the increasing cost of living, an unemployment rate higher than any in the past ten years, paving over prime farmland in the Greenbelt for a highway that benefits no one, and the billions wasted on corrupt deals like or Toronto-specific issues while the problems of the rest of Ontario go ignored
